Every other week I write micro blurb reviews of amazing new music. Below is the latest batch of music that you need to check out.

Goldblums – Gnat Bones 7”

gnat bones

There are so many bands trying to do the lo-fi garage rock thing that it’s really getting old. Enter Des Moines’ Goldblums, a band with hypnotizing rhythms, strong guitars, solid songwriting and a keen ear for lo-fi. Goldblums are that rare find that make reviewing music totally worth it. Gnat Bones is my pick for best 7” of 2015.

L’obscurité – White/Offended 7″

It’s hard to come across really good solid dark synth punk. Sweden’s L’obscurité achieve it after almost having their fans wait a year for this 7” to be released. Punk rock needs more synth.

The Madcaps – Hot Sauce LP

Sassy bass lines, saxophones and Frenchmen?!?! What’s there not to like about The Madcaps? Some solid musicianship and production values went into this record. I dig it. I hope you like tacos!

Abuse of Substance – Pogo to the Pub (LP teaser)

Edmonton’s Abuse of Substance just released a sampler of their upcoming LP and holy fuck it’s a solid entry in street punk history. Easily one of the best things I’ve heard come of out of Edmonton since Zero Cool.

Purity Control – Compilation 7”

An X-Files themed 7”? Fuck yeah! Tracks by Thee Wilt Chamberlain, Lieutenant Dance, James Dean Death Cult, Jason Douglass Swearingen, White Coke and Adrienne Dodt. To be fair, Orlando’s Thee Wilt Chamberlain steal the show on this record with their fantastically amazing X-Files theme rendition mashing ‘50s sci-fi / ’60s surf guitar.
