SHOW PREVIEW: PEARS at Propaganda in Lake Worth 05-18-17

Back in April 2015 we called then little known New Orleans band PEARS punk rock’s last hope.” News of our proclamation spread like wildfire through Livejournal, Myspace, IRC, international news wires and most importantly to Fat Mike’s ears and within months PEARS signed to Fat Wreck Chords. Shortly thereafter pictures of the band hanging out with Bill Stevenson of Descendents/ALL fame, Joanna Angel and Back to the Future star Christopher Lloyd polluted the internet. Some fans were upset by what appeared to be a Corey Feldman’esque “living it up celebrity power grab” but at the end of the day PEARS makes no excuses for their actions and who are we to question our punk rock overlords?

We at TuffGnarl.com would like to think that we single-handedly played a key role in PEARS’ global explosion and that the band’s constant persistence touring around the country and writing amazing songs had very little to no effect on their upward mobility and name recognition. We’d like to take a moment now and apologize for unleashing what is one of the fiercest bands in the history of rock and roll. The genie’s out of the bottle guys. Sorry.

Fast forward to 2017 and PEARS is now headlining shows from Australia to Kazakhstan to Lake Worth, Florida offering VIP packages for meet and greets that surprisingly sell for less than regular entry. They sign all sorts of things — from man-boobies to CDs.

In all seriousness PEARS puts on one hell of a show and that alone warrants you checking them out. So get a sitter, save your pocket change, skip the $2.75 Natural Ice tall boy six pack – DO WHATEVER YOU’VE GOT TO AND MAKE IT THIS SHOW!

PEARS performs at Lake Worth’s PROPAGANDA Thursday, May 18th with openers Armageddon Man, Whiskey Walls, Between Enemies. Tix are $10 (advance) / $12 (day of the show). More info at: https://www.facebook.com/events/1319676114815017

Music Review: Moon Pigeon: Self-titled EP

Rating: Space travel or aviation phenomena aside, Miami’s Moon Pigeon eschews the nomenclature’s ready-made cryptic allusion for a well-versed and thoroughly studied ’90s sound. There’s a lot proving here that hindsight is 20/20. For the members of the quartet, all veterans of South Florida’s music scene, this is a project that could only have evolved […]

The 6 Most Completely Bizarre YouTube Videos Ever

The internet is an ocean of commerce, craziness, information, sex and depravity. Since its widespread adoption during the mid ‘90s, it has been duly shaped into what we always expected it would be: a carnival mirror of the human condition, reflecting in equal parts our greatest attributes and our most repulsive characteristics.
